Welcome to our site

We are a small artisan firm of four stonemasons, one of which is an apprentice. We have one workshop which is based in Northamptonshire.

The company was set up by myself (Richard McCrone) approximately seven years ago. Before this I had gained a huge range of experience in this country, France, Spain and Mexico following a traditional apprenticeship at Bath college. I also worked for three years at Gloucester Cathedral. It was here that I gained valuable skills in the craft of working by hand. I was able to carve an intricate canopy for the front porch, many pinnacles, poppy heads, tracery windows and finally carving a caricature of the late Dean's head for the Cloister gardens.

The ethos of the company is very much on job satisfaction and high standards of craftmanship where problem solving and design through to installation is the norm. Recent contracts include restoration on the West Front of Peterborough Cathedral and inside the cathedral a carved font and floor in purbeck marble, the carving and installation of eleven fireplaces for Boston and New York, (US), and some carved pinnacles for St Peters Church in Oundle.

In November 2008 the company won an award from the Stone Industry Federation for its carving and complete restoration of the Front porch for Cinderford Methodist Church. They valued the fine work and quality achieved from our small company. The award ceremony took place at Lords Cricket Ground.

We hope you find the website interesting and should you need any type of stonework done to a high standard by myself and the team please feel free to contact us using the contacts page.
